I’m proud to announce that I published my first book, Sports Card Crafting: Eleven Handmade Baseball Card Art Projects.
What started out with a rekindling of my childhood hobby turned into experimentation by doing crafty things with them and taking on a Card Art Challenge.
I did this Challenge to appreciate cards from a different perspective, being a creator.
This allowed me to unplug for a while and use some of my crafty skills. Just as I’ve been a trail runner to explore mountains, get my body into shape, and decompress from an intense job and lots of activism, crafting has helped me chill and do something with my hands and imagination.
After I reached 50 published Card Art pieces I decided that I would do what I do in running and that is to set a big goal to keep me engaged and motivated in this hobby. That’s when I decided to write a book about these unique crafting projects.
Now, I’m doing another challenge, being a self-published author. I’ve done all the design, photos, sales flow setup, cover design, and website building sportscardcrafting.com.
My talented wife helped with the editing.
The next phase is to share the book with the world and hopefully inspire collectors, teachers, organizers to do the projects and teach others how to do them.
Art is important and art is healing. You probably aren’t interested in the mechanics of book marketing and I’m no genius so only I’ll share more about how this book impacts the world. I’ve already used these card art projects and principles to create fun experiences. I even incorporated some of it into my work.
